We're looking for a compassionate, motivated Vocational Counselor to join our team. In this role, you'll work directly with individuals to identify their strengths, prepare for employment, build relationships with local employers, and provide ongoing support that helps people succeed in the workplace.

Position Summary
The Vocational Counselor provides individualized employment services to individuals with disabilities throughout Culpeper and surrounding communities. This field-based position combines career counseling, employment coaching, employer engagement, and ongoing job support to help individuals obtain and maintain competitive employment.
Key Responsibilities
Career Planning & Employment Support
- Conduct vocational assessments to identify strengths, interests, abilities, and employment goals.
- Develop individualized employment plans tailored to each person's unique needs.
- Assist clients with resume development, job applications, interview preparation, and workplace readiness.
- Provide individualized job coaching and ongoing employment support to promote long-term success.
Employer & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers to identify employment opportunities.
- Educate employers on workplace accommodations and inclusive hiring practices.
- Match qualified candidates with positions that align with their skills, interests, and career goals.
- Collaborate with community partners, service providers, and referral sources.
Documentation & Case Management
- Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and employment records.
- Monitor client progress and employment outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, funding requirements, and program standards.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- High school diploma or GED and at least two years of relevant professional or lived experience supporting individuals in employment, education, human services, or related settings.
In addition, applicants should have:
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Passion for supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel throughout the service area.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screenings.
Preferred
- Experience in supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, workforce development, disability services, or case management.
- Knowledge of local employment resources and community partnerships.
